Stop Manual Updates: How to Build an Auto-Adding Playlist with Tune Tracker

Every Friday is 'New Music Friday,' but let's be honest: for a passionate music listener, the manual labor is exhausting. Checking every single one of your favorite artists, hunting for tracks, and updating your playlists takes time you'd rather spend listening.

Even worse, Spotify's standard notifications and Release Radar are often cluttered with remixes, live recordings, and random filler you don't want in your clean playlist.

The solution? Automation.

With Tune Tracker's Playlist feature, you can create a smart, self-filtering playlist that updates continuously — all in under five minutes. This means fresh tracks are added the moment they drop, without you lifting a finger.

Here is the complete guide to effortlessly building your auto-adding new release playlist.

Step 1: Prepare the Destination

First, we need to tell Tune Tracker where the music should go.

Navigate to the Playlists section in the app and click on the plus (+) icon in the top right corner.

Tune Tracker will automatically fetch all your existing Spotify playlists, or you can create a brand new one directly from this screen.

Step 2: Choose Your Artists

Now, decide who makes the cut. In the playlist you created or selected in Step 1, click on the "Selected artists" button.

This opens a window showing all the artists you track. You have two options here:

  • Select All: Perfect for a "Master Feed" playlist containing everything.
  • Curate: Select specific artists to build a genre-specific list.

Step 3: Exclude the Noise (Smart Filters)

This is where Tune Tracker truly outshines other tools. It gives you the power to keep your playlist clean.

Under the "Exclude tags" button, you can specify exactly which types of releases you do not want to receive. You can type in any keyword to filter out specific versions. Common examples include:

  • Remix
  • Live
  • Extended Mix
  • Acoustic
  • Sped up

This guarantees that your playlist only includes the genuine releases you actually want to hear.

Step 4: Confirm and Launch

You're almost there.

  1. Double-check that the correct playlist is selected and your exclusion tags are set.
  2. Click 'Create playlist' (or 'Add artists to playlist') to save your settings.

Done! Tune Tracker is now running in the background. As soon as a new track drops that matches your criteria, it will appear in your Spotify playlist automatically.
